			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><br /><p>Its here!  This should be one of the highlights of beer week.  <strong><em>The Green Flash Progressive Beer Dinner</em></strong> is tonight starting at 5:30pm until 10:00pm.  Five fine eateries are participating: <strong>Jaynes Gastropub,  Blind Lady Ale House, Ritual Tavern, The Linkery, and Sea Rocket Bistro.</strong> Each establishment will have a short menu with three small food items paired with a 6 ounce pour of Green Flash beer.  The price for each pairing is $8, including the beer.  Start your dinner at any location and travel to the next or stay and have all three items at your restaurant of choice.  This is not a ticketed event, its pay as you go so enjoy a course at all five places if your belly has room for it.</p>
<p>Also conveniently, Green Flash Brewing is sponsoring a &#8220;Hop-on/Hop-off&#8221; bus with Brew Tours of San Diego that will be running a circular route all night (6pm to 11pm) between Hamilton&#8217;s Tavern on 30th Street and Blind Lady Ale House on Adams Avenue.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><br /><p>We&#8217;re getting <a href="http://sdbw.org/">San Diego Beer Week</a> started out right with a bunch of new music on the playlist including one of our favorite albums, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naturally_(J._J._Cale_album)"><strong><em>Naturally</em></strong></a> by <strong>JJ Cale.</strong> Eric found a nice vinyl copy at <a href="http://www.amoeba.com/store-locations/index.html#san-francisco">Amoeba, SF</a> that reinspired us to this songwriting giant&#8217;s amazing solo albums.   Eric Clapton may not have gotten out of the 70&#8217;s with a career had it not been for this man&#8217;s flawless songs like <strong><em>After Midnight </em></strong>and <em><strong>Cocaine</strong></em>.  Mr. Cale also got some nice <a href="http://www.ascap.com/index.aspx">ASCAP</a> mailbox money from his song <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EsIqEq9OFxE"><em><strong>They Call Me the Breeze</strong></em></a> as recorded by Lynyrd Skynyrd.   JJ currently resides in Escondido.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><br /><p>Jayne and I recently got back from a trip to NYC.   Besides nonstop eating at some great restaurants like <a href="http://www.minettatavernny.com/">Minetta Tavern</a> and <a href="http://www.casamononyc.com/home.cfm">Casa Mono</a> I was at the <a href="http://www.aes.org/">AES</a> show at Javits pimping my latest invention and tax deduction for the record producer (still sounds better than &#8216;CD producer&#8217;)</p>
<p>AES is a scientific body that among many things helps set the standards for analog and digital audio from the most compressed mp3 up to the highest resolution digital audio.   Scientific papers are delivered en masse where designers educate their peers about (and stake claim to) design concepts.   My uncle Billy and initial inspiration to periodically shock myself with 220vac, could have used this forum before he sold his &#8220;one knob tuner stereo tuner&#8221; design AKA the dial on every stereo tuner up till about 1985&#8243; to RCA for $1 and a steady job at RCA making them more millions developing stereo audio.</p>
<p>The other side of the AES coin is the manufacturers who show their equipment to recording engineers, producers and the musical industrial machine.   My personal wares include <a href="http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Pacifica/">microphone preamplifiers</a>, <a href="http://www.adesignsaudio.com/em_peq.html">equalizers</a> and mostly recently large format mixing boards.  See this video of Jon describing the function of his new mixer design.<br />

<p>I get a lot of budding restaurateurs asking me how to get started in the business.  There&#8217;s an old joke in the music biz.</p>
<p><strong>How do you make a million in the music business?&#8230;.</strong></p>

<p><strong>Start with 2 million. </strong></p>
<p>Well its actually not that grim for restaurateurs and just about as fun, but having a day job really doesn&#8217;t hurt.</p>
<p><em>I usually don&#8217;t talk about this tech stuff because of the tendency to create a hazed over look in the eyes of the poor soul Im talking too, but if this is interesting to you feel free talk to me about it.   We can revel in all the exciting new things in the <a href="http://www.digikey.com/">Digikey</a> and <a href="http://www.mouser.com/Home.aspx">Mouser</a> catalogs! </em></p>

The restaurant was busy while we were away and it sounds like people had a great time without us!    There was a time not so long ago that a trip like this seemed an impossibility, but thanks to our crack staff all went well.  Thanks everybody.</p>
<p style="text-align:center;">We started out the trip in my hometown of <a href="http://www.westportnow.com/">Westport CT</a> and went up to New Haven for a tour of my grandfather&#8217;s alma mater, <a href="http://www.yale.edu/">Yale University</a>.  Amazing place that made us all wish we had studied harder in high school.   All you Yalies out there will no doubt recognize this statue of Theodore Woolsey.  <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theodore_Dwight_Woolsey">Mr. Woolseys foot</a> is rubbed for good luck by students, faculty and visitors all year long.<br />

Tiny one room restaurant filled with pewlike seats and absolutely no Coca Cola. Many people on the East Coast mysteriously prefer pepsi over Coke much in the way they love Dunkin Donuts coffee. The burgers are cooked in small cast iron ovens and served on white bread.
